STATUTORY WARNING: NEVER EVER WISH

STATUTORY WARNING: NEVER EVER WISH

Every time when the whisker falls on our cheeks and when ever noticed, the reflex action is to keep it on the back of the closed fist and wish and blow. Isn’t it an easy way to get whatever we want?

Long back I heard a story in which a man found a bottle on the shores of the river and opened it carelessly and alas! There pops out the genie from the bottle. He said, “Master! I grant you three wishes and then I will be free to go. Ask very judiciously because what once you say can’t be undone and in case you have nothing to ask then you can free me now.”

“Jackpot”, thought the man. He was not foolish to let go the genie like that, but at the same time he needed to consult her wife before seeking three wishes. His wife was very happy to hear what her husband had found; this would definitely change their lives forever. She immediately uttered the first wish, “I want money, lots of money walking in through my door.” “Are you sure?” asked the genie. Affirmative was the reply.

Their door knocked and when they open it there was the soldier carrying a bill of one million from the government of the country as the compensation for their son who died while fighting the enemies. His body was cremated in the battlefield as it was his last wish. The man and the woman were shocked and inconsolable.

When the officer went away, the lady started to shout on the genie and calling her names and how could he do such a horrendous thing to them and without thinking uttered her second wish, “I want my son back”. Genie again asked for the reassurance to their wish and was reckoned.

Again there was a knock on the door. The lady leapt out to open the door. The man was cautious and peeped out of the window. He was horrified to see the bare skeleton of their son knocking at their door. He immediately closed the half opened door and breathlessly wished the third and the last wish that they want their son to go away.

Hence completing his terms and conditions the genie was free to go.

THE PAST, THE PRESENT AND THE FUTURE

Couple of years back I had a patient who could cry without any damn logical or explainable reason. Any random morning she got up feeling low and then suddenly the gush of water left her eyes margins pouring down her cheeks and whenever she had that attack there was no stopping at all.

I took her detail case and it was then known that the feeling of lowness was just a covert to the feeling of worthlessness which was also well evinced in her dreams. She always have the dreams of swimming alone in water and not finding any shore or dreams of alone on the hill top. According to Sigmund Freud concept these depicts the hidden insecurities in the subconscious brain which become activated during sleep.

Well propagating further about her history, I came to know that her husband was a software engineer in a multinational company and was posted in America for a project. She and her only son joined her there. They lived there for couple of years before moving back to India. She was very happy there, but since they have come back these crying attacks have been frequent, though her in-laws are good and she had as such no restrictions to follow her heart. But still the water flow couldn’t be stopped.

While treating her I came to know that maybe back of her mind she was feeling insecure as her back there in America she received an undivided attention of her husband as compared to here, moreover after doing so much household chores there was persistent feeling of worthlessness and probably these were the cause of her abrupt tears.

I treated her and counsel her, though the frequency of the attacks reduced to minimal but still once in a blue moon she had them or they were sometimes triggered by watching some emotional movie. Finally I reduced her medicine and ultimately terminated it when I felt she was fine.

For two years I haven’t seen her till couple of days back when she returned to my clinic. After initial greetings I asked her how she was and to which she replied that she was fine and was here to take his son medicine. I asked her about her crying episodes to which she gave me a deep sign.

Last two years were the worst years of her life she told me. It so happened that due to recession her husband lost the job and was jobless for long time which drained out their savings. When he got the job, the salary package was very less and because of which they have to cut short their expenses, consequently shifted their son to different low fees school. She took up some low paying part time job just to fund her finances. The condition was so bad that they have to sell off their big house and shift into smaller one.

I was shocked to hear that within two years the things have so drastically changed. She concluded saying that earlier she used to cry without reason and wanted thrill and wished for the change in her life and see the god granted her the wish and now when the things have actually gone wrong the tears have stopped coming out and there is new struggle and adventure each and every day. How much she craved back her early monotonous life back and she knows very well the things can’t change now to back.

There is no rewind button in life and neither there is any fast forward one, hence whatever we wish for, we don’t know how it is going to end up being and hence the best strategy is to NEVER TO WISH

MORAL

Even in BHAGVAD GITA Lord Krsna have also warned us not to wish and be transcendental to all worldly material desires, because at the end of the life whatever our thoughts and wishes are that is the birth we get in our next life. Giving a simple example, if a person die with the feeling of revenge he is bound to get a body of the animal whose dominant psyche is hatred and revenge like a wolf, scorpion, etc etc.

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY

         HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY

Today is the day of love according to western culture and co-incidentally declared as the auspicious day by Hindu priest according to their Vedic calculations and hence there are fourteen thousand marriages only in Delhi.

But the question arises what is the best gift you can think to give to your love one on this Valentine’s Day?

LIFE IN PAST TENSE

She was born in the small town of Utter Pradesh, Barely. When she was five her father died and with lots of difficulties her mother brought her up. When she was twenty years old, she was married to a man in Ghaziabad, a suburb of Delhi.

She thought may be now her life will change and whatever amount of modest happiness she deserve she will get now. But it was total irony of the life, her husband turned out to be a debauch. All he did was to get himself drunk and gamble whole day and didn’t work. Their expenses were taken care by the rental income coming from their agriculture land.

Two years later the couple had a very cute baby boy. The woman thought may be the time have arrived that will reverse the bad luck and bring her due share of happiness. But her husband didn’t change.

Further two years passed and her husband became severely sick. The doctors in the suburb gave up on his case and he was shifted to Delhi for the treatment. Her brother-in-law lived in Delhi and he took care of the expenses for the treatment of his brother. But since the man was diagnosed with the complicated liver cirrhosis, the treatment expenses became to rise. All the property and the agriculture land of the village were sold for his treatment, but all went in vein as the man succumbed to his vices.

At the young age of twenty five she was a widow with a four year old son beside her. She have given up on the life that it would ever bring her any happiness. She lived with the family of his brother-in-law as she has nowhere else to go.

LIFE IN PRESENT TENSE

She never thought that she would ever get an opportunity to start over again and in fact she have accepted and adapted to her circumstances. But one day something unexpected happened. There was a marriage proposal for her by a very rich, tall, fair, handsome bachelor boy in there distant acquaintance.

It was not like that the girl is of very exceptional beauty or possess any ancestral money, in reality at the age so young she had the wrinkles of sorrow lodged on her face and was living in sheer poverty making both ends meet together with all the difficulties of the world. It was her golden heart and the best of the demure that attracted that handsome boy towards her and he wished to change her life by making her, his better half.

And today on this Valentine’s Day the boy married the girl and took her and her son away to the world of happiness in his shining, gleaming white Honda City which was decorated with red roses and purple orchids.

Finally the girl got her happily ever after.

NOTE – it seemed like a story of any bollywood flick but this is a true story and I am as shocked as any of my readers would be that this could ever happen in the real world! Their marriage took place today on this Valentine day.

Best gift you can ever give to your love one is to give them their well deserved “happily ever after”.

NARCISSUS

                 NARCISSUS

According to Greek myth there was this very handsome boy named Narcissus, once so happened that he was on the long journey and while passing along the water stream he felt thirsty and hence to quench it he went near the riverbed. As he bended to take water he saw his reflection in water and was instantly overwhelmed with adoration of himself that he even forget to drink water. He sat there staring at his own reflection for days and days. It was like that he have been bewitched by a spell that except looking in water he couldn’t see or hear or even feel his body’s basic needs. He sat there just staring and only staring till his eyes finally closed at death.

Sometime later a very beautiful flower appeared over there where he died and since then that flower have been named Narcissus.  Narcissus is a genus of bulbous plants having strap like leaves and flowers with central, tubular crown.

THE BEAUTY AND THE BEAST

She was considered to be the most beautiful woman of her time. Fairest of skin, flawless casing and deep brown eyes and long black hairs. Every man that crossed eyes over her wanted her to be with him. She was too used to all the compliments and stares and in fact she secretly enjoyed all the attention though she pretended she was sick of it.

She never ever gave any heeds to the proposals she got and thought that if she waits patiently sooner or later she will find herself a perfect match who can competed her in might. Her parents worked hard day and night to find her daughter so called MR PERFECT, but who so ever they found or whatever his credibility’s were, their daughter always found something wrong in them and straight away refused.

She believed patience bears the ripe fruits. She was even warned by one of the boy from the list of perspective grooms, that if she kept on looking she won’t ever be satisfied and by the time she would realize her mistake time would have taken its toll. But she thought that it’s what looser says.

Her outer beauty was overfilling her heart with pride and slowly and slowly because of it, she was inwardly turning into a beast, who no one likes when they actually come to know about.

FORTY YEARS LATER....

She is sixty six years old now and still a spinster. She couldn’t found anyone equivalent to her match. And as the prophecy was, the time took its toll and finally the old age started making inroads on once the fairest of fair one. Her parents gave up long back on finding her a groom and years back gave up on life too.

Though she have a government job taking care of all her finances, though she have a big house in which she lives, though she have big car which she drives to her workplace, but at the end of the day she is lonely with no one with whom she could share her deep feelings.

She sits there gazing at the mirror finding company in her own reflection thinking if she would have said “YES” just once, her life would have been different. Just one damn yes was what that was needed. She sits there gazing at the mirror knowing that she could only find solace and company only in death, and she awaits that while gazing at the mirror.

COMMENT

God can bless a person with one of the or in permutation and combination of all the six opulence’s, naming, beauty, wealth, wisdom, knowledge, power and renunciation. Anyone who is blessed with them are considered lucky by the others but in certain cases these gifts are so much manipulated that it instead of making the one outstanding, it drags it to the doors of inferno.

Narcissism is the worst case scenario for the gift of beauty bestowed by almighty.

VANITY KILL’S

          VANITY KILL’S

Once upon a time we all souls used to live happily with our father, the almighty lord. Few of us, nasty ones, saw god enjoying all the luxuries and became envious of him. So they decided among themselves that they will go and talk to the god about it. They went to talk to god and demanded their own dwelling place where they could enjoy as god enjoys. They want to have a proprietorship over things. God tried to explain them that they won’t be able to manage alone therefore they need to give away the idea. But those souls were determined and finally lord give up to their obstinacy, not because he is weak, because like a loving and dotting father he gave up to his kids demands.

God made earth and put those souls there to enjoy. But see what have happened, instead of enjoying we have entangled ourselves into the abyss of never ending sufferings and yet we haven’t learned our lesions and instead of finding way back to god’s abode, we still can’t abandon the vanity derived from our false ego.

THE STORY OF THE WOMAN...

The woman in her early sixties was a retired government officer, living alone in a posh society. Her husband died long back, her daughters married and her son settles abroad, with whom she spent six months every year till her tourist visa expires and then she used to come back to India and get it renewed to go there again with her son.

She was back from her visit to her son. It took her couple of days to get things in order and get her visa renewed. She was supposed to leave again after two months stay in India. So for two months she hired a woman in her early thirties to do the basic cleaning and household chores. She didn’t got her verified from the police station as she wanted her for two months and the lady worked in the nearby shop and earlier also she has worked in her house.

The whole day her household helper stayed with her listening to her and her fancy stories of foreign land and how well her son is established over there and god have been very kind to them as the money is pouring like a heavy rain over their home. She bragged about her bank balance in front of her maid. She took pride in each and everything expensive she brought and displayed it vividly, latest to join her list were the big LED television, the high power AC, two brand new Blackberry phones last but not the least four diamond sets.

So when she started there was no end to the details of things that she brought. It was like feeding her ego {False ego according to Bhagvad Gita, it is explained that we humans are superior energy of the lord hence we are bound to have ego, but when we start to establish our proprietorship over the materialistic things which are considered to be the inferior energy of the lord, we develop FALSE EGO} and her only way to make her happy. People have different ways that they adopt themselves to keep happy and the lady adopted this one, which seemed pretty harmless way.

....WHO HAD A BRUTAL END

Her pretty harmless hobby became a curse for her and led to her untimely and brutal end. Her house hold helper along with her boyfriend and his two associates broke into her house robbed it and strangled her to death. The LED television high quality volume when put to the highest acted as the curtains concealing what was happening to her from her neighbors. The Blackberry couldn’t be used by her to call for her help, her brand new AC couldn’t provide her with enough air when she was being smothered and strangulated and her brand new diamond sets were the last leash to encourage the dormant monster of lust in the heart of her helper.

The things that she purchased with her own very hands to make her happy and comfortable were the same one which catalyzed to her untimely death.
